Axxam and BiomimX collaborate to advance human-relevant drug discovery with next-generation Organ-on-Chip technologies

Milan (Italy) – Axxam S.p.A., a leading provider of integrated early discovery services, and BiomimX S.r.l., an innovative biotechnology company developing advanced Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technologies, today announced a collaboration to advance human-relevant in vitro models, enabling more predictive preclinical research and supporting the de-risking of drug discovery programs.
Axxam provides comprehensive early discovery solutions from Target to Lead, including AI-enabled target identification, target validation, assay development, high-throughput screening (HTS), hit identification and hit-to-lead activities. Through this collaboration, BiomimX complements these capabilities with its proprietary uBeat® technology, a New Approach Methodology (NAM) that combines microfluidics, living human cells and physical stimuli to generate clinically and human-relevant 3D in vitro models. Together, the two companies will offer integrated solutions that enable researchers to evaluate therapeutic candidates in increasingly predictive human in vitro models throughout the drug discovery process, initially focusing on cardiovascular disease research and cardiotoxicity assessment to support target validation, disease models and more predictive evaluation of both efficacy and cardiac safety.
By combining these complementary technologies, the two companies can now offer clients a continuum of experimental models with increasing biological complexity, ranging from scalable screening assays to advanced Organ-on-Chip systems. This enables researchers to select the most appropriate platform for each stage of drug discovery.
